Conclusions:

  • Sleep restriction following a nighttime soccer match does not appear to impair key physical, perceptual, or cognitive functions the following morning in elite male soccer players.
  • Soccer players may possess resilience to acute sleep loss in the immediate post-match period, though further research is warranted.
