Abstract:
The present paper communicates the technique and results of a simple operation, involving little risk of trauma, for strengthening the sclera in highly myopic children and adults. The posterior lateral part of the sclera, which offers the least resistance to deformation, is strengthened. The progression of myopia was halted in 97% of the cases thus treated, with postoperative complications occurring in only one case.
