Abstract:
Describe the epidemiology of heart failure in people with diabetes mellitus. Implement evidence-based nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic therapies for heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction as recommended in current guidelines. Characterize the role of glucose-lowering medications, focusing on the sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors, for the treatment of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
