Summary

Outer table cranial bone grafts are effective for reconstructing facial bone defects, offering excellent results and minimal donor site issues. This technique is a preferred alternative to traditional grafts for facial trauma repair.

Background:

  • Onlay cranial bone grafts are increasingly favored for facial defect reconstruction.
  • This study evaluates the efficacy of outer table cranial bone grafts in addressing complex post-traumatic facial deformities.

Observation:

  • Seven patients with orbital, zygomatic, maxillary, mandibular, and nasal deformities were treated.
  • Outer table cranial bone grafts were utilized for reconstruction in all cases.

Findings:

  • Six out of seven patients achieved satisfactory cosmetic outcomes with no graft resorption.
  • One patient required graft removal due to insufficient soft tissue coverage.
  • No significant donor site morbidity was observed in any patient.
