HbA1c during early pregnancy reflects beta-cell dysfunction in women developing GDM

Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) screening in early pregnancy can identify women at risk for gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Elevated HbA1c levels predict impaired glucose metabolism and increased risk of delivering large-for-gestational-age infants.
