  • To assess the desire for structured mentorship among pediatric surgery trainees and program directors.

  • A survey was distributed to pediatric surgery program directors (n=58) and graduating fellows (n=72).
  • The survey addressed demographics, current mentorship structures, and desired mentoring topics.

Conclusions:

  • A substantial gap exists between the demand for structured mentorship among pediatric surgery trainees and its current provision.

  • Implementing structured mentorship is essential for the future of pediatric surgical education.
