Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare the outcomes of analog versus digital techniques for single-tooth replacement in the anterior maxilla.
  • To evaluate soft tissue health using Bleeding on Probing (BOP) analysis.
  • To assess hard tissue stability through measurement of crestal bone resorption.

Main Methods:

  • Four homogeneous patients requiring anterior maxillary incisor replacement were treated with immediate post-extractive implants and immediate loading.
  • Patients were alternatively treated using analog and digital methodologies.
  • Preoperative CBCT, regular follow-ups, intraoral X-rays with customized centring devices, and BOP checks were performed at 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years.

Main Results:

  • Similar levels of Bleeding on Probing (BOP) were recorded across all patients at all follow-up points.
  • All patients exhibited initial moderate interproximal bone loss between 6 months and 1 year, followed by stable bone levels thereafter.
  • Both digital and analog methods demonstrated comparable outcomes in terms of soft tissue health and hard tissue stability.

Conclusions:

  • Despite study limitations due to a small sample size, digital and analog techniques yield similar clinical outcomes for immediate implant placement and loading in the anterior maxilla.
  • The findings suggest that both approaches can achieve satisfactory functional and aesthetic results.
  • Further research with larger cohorts is warranted to confirm these observations.
