Ketogenic diets, not for everyone.

Ketogenic diets can significantly raise cholesterol levels, even in individuals without pre-existing hyperlipidemia. Patients experienced marked cholesterol increases, highlighting potential risks of these popular low-carbohydrate diets.

- Clinicians should exercise caution when recommending ketogenic diets, especially in patients with or at risk for hyperlipidemia.
- Further research into genetic factors influencing dietary lipid responses is warranted.
