Intradural extramedullary pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma: A case report

This study reports a rare case of pleomorphic xanthoastrocytoma (PXA), a brain tumor, found in the spine. Complete surgical removal led to no recurrence, indicating a positive prognosis for spinal PXA.

- Postoperative imaging at 7 months showed no evidence of tumor recurrence.
- This case highlights successful management of a rare spinal tumor.
Implications:
- Primary intradural extramedullary spinal PXA, though rare, is a treatable condition.
- Gross total excision appears to be an effective treatment strategy.
- Further research into spinal PXA is warranted given its rarity.
