Background:

  • Pyoderma vegetans (PV) is an uncommon extra-intestinal manifestation of ulcerative colitis (UC).
  • Nasal mucosa PV occurring with UC is exceptionally rare.

Observation:

  • A 28-year-old female with a history of UC and pyoderma gangrenosum presented with nasal pain and a visible nasal lesion.
  • Histopathological examination confirmed PV of the nasal mucosa.

Findings:

  • The patient responded well to oral prednisone (40 mg/day), achieving symptom resolution.
  • No recurrence was observed during a 1-year follow-up period.

Implications:

  • Nasal pain in inflammatory bowel disease patients warrants investigation for coexisting nasal mucosa PV.
  • Early diagnosis and treatment of nasal PV can lead to favorable outcomes in UC patients.
