Global disparities in urban household solid waste management (UHSWM) practices exist.
Developed nations like Germany show effective UHSWM, contrasting with developing countries' challenges.
This study analyzes German and Brazilian UHSWM to identify transferable strategies.

Purpose of the Study:

To conduct a cross-case analysis of UHSWM in a German and a Brazilian city.
To identify practical solutions for improving UHSWM in developing countries by learning from German practices.
To assess the potential of the Green Dot methodology for enhancing waste management in Brazil.

Main Methods:

Utilized process flow diagrams (PFDs) for waste management analysis.
Employed wasteaware benchmark indicators for integrated sustainable waste management (ISWM) assessment.
Performed a comparative matrix quantification of UHSWM systems.
