Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the efficacy of hybrid bone single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/computed tomography (CT) in predicting bone graft viability.
  • To determine if SPECT/CT can identify nonviable vascularized bone grafts after reconstructive surgery.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective review of 46 SPECT/CT scans from 45 patients 1 week post-surgery.
  • Visual scoring of bone graft tracer uptake compared to the calvarium.
  • Comparison of imaging findings with clinical follow-up data for graft viability assessment.

  • All five nonviable bone grafts showed a score of 0 on SPECT/CT.
