Summary

Aggressive surgery for primary duodenal adenocarcinoma, a rare cancer, is effective. Pancreaticoduodenectomy (modified Whipple operation) led to successful outcomes in two patients, with one remaining disease-free for three years.

  • Post-operative follow-up was conducted to assess outcomes.

Findings:

  • Both patients achieved successful surgical outcomes.
  • One patient survived for three years post-surgery, succumbing to an unrelated cause.
  • The second patient remained clinically disease-free at three years post-resection.

Implications:

  • An aggressive surgical approach appears justified for patients diagnosed with this rare duodenal tumor.
  • Successful outcomes suggest the potential for long-term survival with timely and complete resection.
  • Further research into optimal management strategies for duodenal adenocarcinoma is warranted.
