Background:

Proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint fracture-dislocation is a common digital injury.
Treatment choice depends on articular involvement and joint stability.
Established surgical options include pinning, ORIF, and external fixation.

Observation:

A case of unstable, subacute dorsal PIP fracture-dislocation of the ring finger was presented.
Standard surgical interventions were not feasible or desired by the patient.
Temporary bridge plate fixation, adapted from distal radius fracture treatment, was performed.

Findings:

The temporary bridge plate fixation allowed immediate return to work for the patient.
The procedure resulted in reasonable short-term outcomes, comparable to other established methods.
