Diagnostic and therapeutic applications of antiplatelet monoclonal antibodies
1Division of Hematology, State University of New York, Stony Brook 11794.
The interaction of platelets with natural and artificial surfaces is briefly reviewed, emphasizing the role of the platelet glycoprotein Ib and IIb/IIIa receptors. Studies utilizing monoclonal antibodies to these receptors for the diagnosis and therapy of hemorrhagic and thrombotic disorders are described, indicating the potential of such agents as platelet inhibitors.
