Persistent Encephalopathy in a Noncirrhotic Patient: Do not Shun This Shunt

A spontaneous portosystemic shunt, an abnormal vein connection bypassing the liver, can cause hepatic encephalopathy. Endovascular management to close the shunt offers a treatment for this condition.
