Summary

Double-balloon enteroscopy (DBE) is a safe and effective tool for diagnosing small-bowel neuroendocrine neoplasms (sbNENs). This study found DBE had 60% sensitivity and 100% specificity in detecting these rare tumors.

Background:

  • Small-bowel neuroendocrine neoplasms (sbNENs) are rare tumors.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the diagnostic performance of DBE in detecting sbNENs.
  • To report the single-center experience with DBE for suspected sbNENs.

  • Consecutive patients with suspected sbNENs undergoing diagnostic DBE were enrolled.
  • DBE procedures were performed anterograde, retrograde, or both.
  • Diagnostic yield and safety of DBE were assessed.
