EXENATIDE TREATMENT REDUCES THYROID GLAND VOLUME, BUT HAS NO EFFECT ON THE SIZE OF THYROID NODULES

Exenatide treatment for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) significantly reduced thyroid volume and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) levels over six months. However, it did not impact thyroid nodules or key tumor markers.

- Exenatide did not demonstrate any significant effect on the development or characteristics of thyroid nodules.
- The treatment did not alter serum CEA or calcitonin levels, suggesting no impact on medullary thyroid carcinoma risk markers.
