Color Vision01:24

Color Vision

1.1K
Color perception begins in the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. Two main theories explain how colors are seen: the trichromatic theory and the opponent-process theory. The trichromatic theory, proposed by Thomas Young in 1802 and extended by Hermann von Helmholtz in 1852, suggests that color vision is based on three types of cone receptors in the retina. These cones are sensitive to different but overlapping ranges of wavelengths corresponding to red, blue, and green.

Phase-Contrast Microscopes
In-phase-contrast microscopes, interference between light directly passing through a cell and light refracted by cellular components is used to create high-contrast, high-resolution images without staining. It is the oldest and simplest type of microscope that creates an image by altering the wavelengths of light rays passing through the specimen. Altered wavelength paths are created using an annular stop in the condenser. The annular stop produces a hollow cone of...

Time and frequency -Domain Interpretation of Phase-lead Control

300
Phase-lead controllers are commonly used in various control systems to enhance response speed and stability. Adjusting the brightness on a television screen offers a practical example of phase-lead control. When contrast is enhanced, a phase-lead controller is employed. Mathematically, phase-lead control is identified when the first parameter is smaller than the second.
The design of phase-lead control involves the strategic placement of poles and zeros to balance steady-state error and system...

    • To reduce the number of patterns required for accurate phase measurement.
    • To overcome the limitations of surface color effects in phase retrieval.

    Main Methods:

    • Introduction of three phase-shifting amount codes (3-PSA-codes) based on 3-digit-code concepts.
    • Embedding code elements into the phase-shifting amount (PSA) domain for retrieval from phase differences.
    • Utilizing fringe patterns of wrapped phase for efficient code element determination.
    • Employing a single additional pattern for absolute phase retrieval.

    Main Results:

    • Successfully retrieved absolute phase information from colored objects with a single additional pattern.
    • Demonstrated the effectiveness of 3-PSA-codes in overcoming surface color interference.
    • Experimental results confirmed the robustness of the proposed method.

    Conclusions:

    • The proposed 3-PSA-codes offer a significant advancement in absolute phase retrieval for challenging surfaces.
    • This method simplifies the measurement process by reducing pattern requirements.
