Rous Sarcoma virus or RSV was discovered by F. Peyton Rous in the year 1911 as a filterable transmissible agent that could cause tumors in chickens. He won a Nobel Prize for this discovery in 1966. Summary

Radiation-induced sarcomas (RIS) are rare secondary malignancies. This study found RIS patients have unique characteristics and a poor prognosis, highlighting the need for new treatment strategies.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the prevalence, characteristics, and outcomes of patients with radiation-induced sarcomas.
  • To analyze prognostic factors influencing survival in RIS patients.

  • Retrospective study of 64 RIS patients treated between 1979-2013.
