Health promotion in coronary care and step-down units: focus on the family--linking research to practice

Fifteen wives of AMI patients were interviewed to determine the effectiveness of a family assessment tool in helping nurses promote family health in the setting of AMI. The tool was found to be useful, and the study generated information about thoughts, perceptions, and feelings of wives consistent with data from other studies.
