Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the creativity levels of medical students.
  • To compare creativity and identify influencing factors among medical students.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study involving 720 medical students from public and private universities in 2019.
  • Stratified cluster random sampling and the Guilford Creativity Questionnaire were employed.
  • Data analysis included Chi-square, Pearson correlation, t-test, and multiple logistic regression.

Main Results:

  • The average creativity score was 131.4 ± 13.8, with mean scores on dimensions: fluency (49.2 ± 5.3), elaboration (22.1 ± 3.4), originality (34.8 ± 4.7), and flexibility (25.4 ± 3.5).
  • 75.2% of students demonstrated moderate creativity, and 23.8% had high creativity.
  • A significant relationship was found between educational level and creativity (P=0.006), with higher educational levels associated with decreased creativity (OR=0.59).

Conclusions:

  • The majority of medical students possess moderate creativity.
  • Factors beyond the field of study and educational level did not significantly impact creativity in this cohort.
  • Implementing collaborative learning, problem-based learning, and innovative teaching strategies can enhance medical students' creativity.
