Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the utility of spatial quantitative vectorcardiographic angular characteristics in assessing valvar aortic stenosis severity.
  • To correlate vectorcardiographic parameters with hemodynamic measurements.

  • Thirty-four patients with documented valvar aortic stenosis were studied.
  • Corrected Frank lead system vectorcardiography was employed.
  • Emphasis was placed on spatial R max angular characteristics and spatial QRS-T angle.

  • Azimuth angle and spatial R max magnitude correlated significantly with pressure and gradient measurements.

Conclusions:

  • Spatial QRS-T angle and other vectorcardiographic angular features show promise for assessing valvar aortic stenosis severity.
  • These vectorcardiographic parameters may serve as a valuable adjunct to existing noninvasive diagnostic methods.
