This study introduces the Prophet model to improve satellite clock bias (SCB) prediction for more accurate precision point positioning (PPP). The Prophet model significantly enhances SCB prediction accuracy, leading to better real-time navigation results.
Area of Science:
- Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering
- Satellite Navigation Systems
- Time Series Analysis
Background:
- Precision Point Positioning (PPP) is crucial for navigation but limited by Satellite Clock Bias (SCB) prediction accuracy.
- Existing ultra-rapid ephemeris predictions (IGU-P) lack the quality and real-time performance needed for practical PPP applications.
- Accurate SCB prediction is vital for mitigating positioning errors in PPP.
Purpose of the Study:
- To enhance the accuracy of PPP by improving SCB prediction.
- To evaluate the effectiveness of the Prophet model for SCB prediction using IGS ultra-rapid ephemeris data.
- To compare the performance of the Prophet model against existing methods like IGU-P.
Main Methods:
- Extracted SCB sequences from IGS ultra-rapid ephemeris (IGU-O).
- Calculated SCB single difference sequences between adjacent epochs.
- Applied the Prophet model to predict SCB single difference sequences.
- Integrated predicted SCB values into PPP positioning equations.
Main Results:
- The Prophet model achieved significant improvements in SCB prediction accuracy, ranging from 48.8% to 61.7% compared to IGU-P for four satellites.
- PPP positioning accuracy showed marked improvements: 26% in the North, 35% in the East, and 19% in the Up directions.
- The Prophet model demonstrated superior performance over IGU-P in both SCB prediction and subsequent PPP positioning.
Conclusions:
- The Prophet model offers a substantial advancement in SCB prediction accuracy for PPP.
- The improved SCB prediction directly translates to enhanced real-time PPP positioning performance.
- This research validates the Prophet model as a valuable tool for improving satellite navigation systems.
