Background:

Functional constipation significantly impairs patients' physical and mental health, and overall quality of life.
Acupoint herbal patching is an emerging adjuvant therapy for functional constipation, currently under clinical investigation.
Existing research lacks systematic reviews or meta-analyses evaluating its effectiveness and analyzing specific acupoints and herbs.

Purpose of the Study:

To systematically evaluate the efficacy of acupoint herbal patching as an adjuvant therapy for functional constipation.
To analyze the effectiveness of acupoint herbal patching on clinical outcomes, functional status, and quality of life.
To identify core acupoint and herb prescriptions for functional constipation through network analysis.

Main Methods:

Comprehensive literature search across 8 major databases (inception to Nov 15, 2020) without language restrictions.
Primary outcomes include clinical effective rate, functional outcomes, and quality of life.
Risk of bias assessment using Cochrane Collaboration tool and evidence quality evaluation using GRADE approach; network analysis for prescription identification.

Main Results:

Analysis will focus on clinical effective rates, functional outcomes, and quality of life improvements in patients with functional constipation.
The study will identify effective acupoint and herbal prescriptions for treating functional constipation.
Clinical symptom improvements will be assessed.

Conclusions:

Findings will provide evidence regarding the effectiveness of acupoint herbal patching for functional constipation.
The study aims to elucidate potential optimal treatment prescriptions for acupoint herbal patching in managing functional constipation.
