Summary

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma is a rare soft tissue cancer. This case highlights a unique instance of this sarcoma originating in the ascending mesocolon, a location rarely affected by this aggressive cancer.

Background:

Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) is an aggressive malignancy typically affecting adult soft tissues.
While common in the limbs and trunk, UPS rarely occurs in the mesentery, presenting diagnostic and therapeutic challenges.

Observation:

This report details a rare case of undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma originating in the ascending mesocolon.

Findings:

Complete tumor resection is the primary treatment for UPS.
The efficacy of chemotherapy and radiation therapy in mesenteric UPS requires further investigation.

Implications:

This case expands the known anatomical sites for UPS.
Further research is needed to clarify optimal management strategies for mesenteric UPS, including the role of neoadjuvant and adjuvant therapies.
