Kidney function and the prognostic value of myocardial performance index

The myocardial performance index (MPI) predicts cardiovascular events in individuals with reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). This cardiac risk assessment tool is particularly valuable for those with eGFR below 75 mL/min/1.73 m².

- MPI may serve as a valuable tool for identifying elevated cardiac risk in the general population with impaired kidney function.
- Further research could explore integrating MPI into risk stratification protocols for patients with chronic kidney disease.
