Neodymium:YAG laser phacofracture: an aid to phacoemulsification

A series of approximately 1,000 cases of nucleus pretreatment prior to phacoemulsification is presented. Current results indicate that the technique eases phacoemulsification, especially of hard nuclei, and has little risk when done properly.
