Summary

This study developed the first Danish value set for the EQ-5D-5L, using quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) to inform healthcare decisions. The new value set reflects the Danish population's preferences for health states.

Background:

Denmark plans to use quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) for priority setting of medicines.
A Danish population-based value set for the EQ-5D-5L instrument is needed for this purpose.

Purpose of the Study:

To develop the first Danish value set for the EQ-5D-5L instrument.
To represent the preferences of the Danish adult population regarding health states.

Main Methods:

A nationally representative sample (n=1014) of Danish adults aged >18 years participated.
Health states were valued using composite time trade-off (cTTO) and discrete-choice experiment (DCE) methods.
A hybrid model combining cTTO and DCE data was used to derive the value set.

Main Results:

The final Danish EQ-5D-5L value set ranges from -0.757 to 1.
The sample was representative, with a slight overrepresentation of higher education.
Anxiety/depression was the health dimension assigned the most value by respondents.

Conclusions:

The study successfully established the Danish EQ-5D-5L value set.
This value set reflects the preferences of the Danish general population.
It is expected to be a key input for healthcare decision-making in Denmark.
