The Bezold-Jarisch reflex (BJR) can cause dangerous heart rhythm issues like asystole during dobutamine infusions. This rare event, however, is typically benign and resolves upon stopping the medication.

- The Bezold-Jarisch reflex (BJR) is a parasympathetic response to ventricular mechanoreceptor activation.

Definition
An exercise stress test measures the heart's response to exertion using a treadmill or stationary bicycle. Chest electrodes record the heart's electrical activity through an ECG, and blood pressure is monitored regularly.
