Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the effect of different bronchoalveolar lavage fluid temperatures on pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis.

Main Methods:

  • Twenty-seven healthy individuals were randomized into three groups.
  • Group 1: Routine bronchoscopy. Group 2: Bronchoscopy with 25°C saline BAL. Group 3: Bronchoscopy with 37°C saline BAL.
  • Arterial blood gas (ABG) and pulmonary function tests (PFT) were performed pre- and post-procedure.

Main Results:

  • Routine bronchoscopy caused a decrease in PaO2.
