Abstract:
Reliability and accuracy of the vitreous potassium concentration as an indicator of the post-mortem interval (PMI) in cattle were studied. Sampling not more than 1 ml of vitreous humor from the centre of the corpus vitreum was found to improve both accuracy and reliability. A significant correlation between the PMI and the vitreous potassium concentration was found to be present in cattle.
