Teaching evidence-based practice piece by PEACE.

Background:

• Teaching evidence-based practice (EBP) to nurse practitioner (NP) students presents challenges.
• NPs require proficiency in EBP skills to develop and implement clinical protocols.

Purpose of the Study:

• To redesign an EBP course for NP students using a constructivist approach and the PEACE framework.
• To foster interprofessional collaboration among NP students.

Main Methods:

• The EBP course was rebuilt using the constructivist approach and the PEACE framework (Problem identification, Evidence retrieval, Appraisal of evidence, Changing practice, Evaluation).
• Students collaborated with non-nursing professionals.
• Students created evidence-based posters of proposed clinical practice changes.

• The integrated PEACE framework and constructivist approach were positively received by students and faculty.
