Background:

  • Laser eye injuries can cause full-thickness macular holes (MHs).
  • Pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) is a surgical option for MHs.
  • Assessing outcomes of PPV for laser-induced MHs is crucial.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the structure and visual outcomes of PPV for laser-induced MHs.
  • To analyze the impact of retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) damage on visual prognosis.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective study of 10 patients with laser-induced MHs.
  • Surgical intervention included PPV, internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, and gas tamponade.
  • Assessment using best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (OCT), and OCT angiography (OCTA).
