Summary

Human platelets possess Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Class I antigens, which influence platelet aggregation and serotonin release. These findings suggest a novel role for HLA antigens in platelet function beyond immune responses.

Background:

  • Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Class I antigens are typically known for their role in major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-restricted immune responses.
