Summary

Applied kinesiology, a method for assessing nutritional status via muscle response, showed no reliability or correlation with standard tests. This study suggests its effectiveness is comparable to random guessing for nutrient evaluation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the reliability and validity of applied kinesiology for assessing nutritional status.
  • To compare AK findings with standard biochemical tests and objective muscle strength measurements.

Main Methods:

  • Three kinesiologists assessed 11 subjects for four nutrients (thiamin, zinc, vitamin A, ascorbic acid).
  • Evaluations were compared for inter-tester reliability, correlation with laboratory nutrient tests, and computerized muscle testing.
