Summary

External transthoracic pacing effectively managed bradycardia and cardiogenic shock in right ventricular infarction when transvenous pacing failed. This approach offers a vital alternative for hemodynamic stabilization in complex myocardial infarction cases.

Area of Science:

  • Cardiology
  • Critical Care Medicine
  • Electrophysiology

Background:

  • Right ventricular infarction (RVI) often presents with hemodynamic instability, including bradycardia and cardiogenic shock.
  • Standard pharmacologic interventions and transvenous pacing may be ineffective in RVI due to impaired right ventricular function.
