Exercise-induced haemoglobin oxygen desaturation in patients with SCD

Sickle cell disease (SCD) patients with exercise-induced hemoglobin oxygen desaturation (EIHOD) show similar lung function and hemolysis compared to those without EIHOD. Lower hemoglobin predicts EIHOD in HbSC but not HbSS SCD patients.

- Lung function is not a reliable predictor of exercise-induced desaturation in SCD.
