Severe hypoglycemia (serum glucose ≤ 40 mg/dl) can cause fatal coma. This study identified common underlying conditions and mechanisms of hypoglycemia in autopsy cases, highlighting alcoholism, drugs, and neoplasia as frequent contributors.
