Multiple Approaches for Managing Complex Ophthalmic Blunt Trauma: A Case Report.

A single-step surgery successfully repaired complex blunt facial trauma, including eye and nasal injuries. However, visual acuity remained suboptimal due to traumatic optic neuropathy, highlighting risks in severe cases.

- A simultaneous one-step surgical approach was employed by ophthalmology and ENT surgeons during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Findings:
- The one-step surgery achieved anatomical success in repairing the naso-orbital-ethmoidal fracture and globe injuries, including retinal reattachment.
- Functional outcomes were unsatisfactory, with no improvement in visual acuity, attributed to traumatic optic neuropathy.
Implications:
- Single-step surgery can be beneficial for complex ophthalmic blunt trauma by reducing treatment delay.
- Complex injuries carry a higher risk of residual complications and functional impairment, necessitating careful pre-operative assessment and patient consent.
