Summary

Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease (PD) worsened dysfunctional impulsivity, a lack of prior reasoning, but not functional impulsivity. Electrode placement in the ventral subthalamic nucleus (STN) and lower preoperative cognitive scores were linked to increased dysfunctional impulsivity.
