Alternative carbon price trajectories can avoid excessive carbon removal

Climate change mitigation scenarios often assume rising carbon prices. This study shows that higher initial carbon prices, followed by slower increases after carbon neutrality, reduce economic effort and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) needs.
