Background:

  • Circumcision is a common urological procedure.
  • Heat cautery is a prevalent local technique for neonatal circumcision.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the incidence of meatal stenosis (MS) in children.
  • To identify presenting symptoms of MS.
  • To investigate the relationship between MS and local traditional neonatal circumcision techniques.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective study design.
  • Inclusion of 150 children circumcised in infancy using traditional methods (heat cautery or surgical knives).
  • Data analysis using SPSS version 25.

Main Results:

  • Meatal stenosis (MS) was diagnosed in 40% (60/150) of children.
  • MS incidence was significantly higher in children circumcised with heat cautery devices (P=0.037).
