Summary

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were elevated in patients with idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN). Higher PAH levels correlated with indicators of kidney damage and decreased heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), suggesting PAHs may contribute to IMN via oxidative stress.
