Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the side effects of common cosmetic parlor procedures.
  • Investigated dermatological reactions following facials, threading, waxing, and laser hair reduction.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective study conducted over 12 months at a tertiary hospital.
  • 102 patients were evaluated for skin lesions post-parlor procedures.
  • Data collection included patient history, clinical examination, and procedure correlation.

Main Results:

  • Acneiform eruptions (25.4%) were the most frequent side effect.
  • Post-waxing folliculitis (16.7%) and facial hyperpigmentation (14.7%) were also common.
  • Other observed conditions included molluscum contagiosum, verrucae plana, and tinea faciei.

Conclusions:

  • Side effects from cosmetic parlor procedures are common.
  • Increased awareness and patient education are vital to mitigate these complications.
