Virtual reality (VR) simulation can enhance nursing students' hypovolemic shock care skills. This study identified key elements for developing effective VR training programs to improve student engagement and competence in managing hypovolemic shock patients.

Background:

  • Qualitative study utilizing focus group interviews with 15 experienced clinical nurses (≥10 years) specializing in hypovolemic shock care.
  • Data collected through interviews in June-July 2020, followed by qualitative content analysis and theme development.

  • Exploratory research identified five key themes: experience in hypovolemic shock nursing care, determinants of patient prognosis, essential nursing competence, scenario construction, and VR simulation program development directions.
