Mitral valve repair is difficult with small leaflets. A new double-leaflet technique uses pericardium to create an additional leaflet, improving valve closure for better mitral regurgitation treatment.
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Surgery
- Cardiac Valve Repair
- Biomaterials in Medicine
Background:
- Small or tethered posterior leaflets pose significant challenges during mitral valve repair.
- Achieving adequate leaflet coaptation is crucial for successful mitral valve repair outcomes.
