The Professional Nurse

Professional nurses are not limited to bedside care and are taking roles of greater responsibility. A nurse should have a knowledge-based practice, including personal, theoretical, procedural, cultural, and reflexive knowledge. Additionally, nurses must be competent in cognitive, technical, interpersonal, and ethical/legal skills. Some of the best attributes of successful nurses include the following:

The evaluation stage signals the end of the nursing process. The nurse gathers evaluative data to assess whether or not the patient has attained the expected results. Whereas the nurse collects data in the nursing assessment to identify the patient's health concerns, the evaluation stage data determines if the indicated health issues are resolved. Background:

The COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented attention to healthcare workers, particularly nurses.
Understanding the pandemic's impact on the nursing profession is crucial.

Purpose of the Study:

To assess occupational satisfaction among nurses in Israel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
To identify factors influencing occupational satisfaction and working conditions.

Main Methods:

Cross-sectional study involving 130 Israeli nurses.
Utilized the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire and a 28-item Measure of Job Satisfaction.

Main Results:

Nurses in the community reported higher occupational satisfaction than hospital-based nurses.
Caring for COVID-19 patients and lack of personal protective equipment (PPE) were associated with lower occupational satisfaction.
Occupational satisfaction was primarily linked to intrinsic factors like personal accomplishment, not increased workload.

Conclusions:

Despite the pandemic, nurses prioritize worthwhile accomplishments, professional challenges, and personal growth.
Intrinsic job characteristics remain key drivers of occupational satisfaction for nurses.
