Abstract:
The 100th anniversary of Emil Abderhalden's birthday gave occasion to remember life and work of this great physician. Abderhalden's contributions to physiological chemistry then determined the profile of this speciality and at the same time they also fertilized other subjects--for instance internal medicine. Apart from the activity in the closer speciality Abderhalden's life-work is characterized by social-medical activities and activities in the field of communal politics, the details of which are presented in this study.
