Summary

Haptoglobin (HP) genotyping revealed no significant associations in primary ovarian cancer patients. However, an excess of the HP2-1 genotype was found in patients with a family history of cancer.

  • Haptoglobin (HP) phenotyping was performed on 182 patients diagnosed with primary ovarian carcinoma.
  • Statistical analyses were conducted to assess associations between HP groups and clinical parameters.
  • Family history of cancer was recorded for all participating patients.

  • No significant associations were found between haptoglobin (HP) groups and primary ovarian carcinoma in the studied cohort.

Conclusions:

  • Future research should focus on the potential role of haptoglobin (HP) in hereditary cancer syndromes or shared environmental risk factors within families.
